Frieda May McGill, 93, died July 30, 2020, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. She was born April 6, 1927, in Hutchinson, to John Wesley and Laura Margaret (Price) Carter. 

Frieda was a 1945 graduate of Hutchinson High School, and a 1969 graduate of Salt City Business College, Hutchinson. She enjoyed playing cards, doing craft projects, and listening to Western and Classical country music. Frieda was a seamstress who refurbished American flags, and did sewing and upholstery repairs on the uniforms and leather gear used by firemen and policemen. She was a Boy Scout Den Mother, and bowler who taught each of her children to bowl. Frieda was a longtime member of Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson. She had many jobs, but the one that she loved the most was being a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

On March 21, 1945, she married William Anthony McGill, in Hutchinson.  They shared almost sixty-three years of marriage, prior to his death on March 1, 2008.

Frieda is survived by her children, Barbara (Bill) Naab of Hutchinson, Patricia (Les) Hauschild of Sterling, Tony (Joella) McGill of Hutchinson, Lisa (San) Nikkel of Moundridge, Rebecca Friesen of Hutchinson, Chris (Jody) McGill of Hutchinson, and Claude McGill of Hutchinson; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; and sisters. Doris (Dave) Clark, and Lorana (Ed) Stay, all of Hutchinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William McGill; sister, Vesta Stewart; and brothers, John Haines, Darrell Carter, and Walter Carter.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, 2020, at Westside Baptist Church, 400 W. 12th, Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Adrian officiating. The service can be viewed on the Westside Baptist Church Facebook page. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park.  Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
