HUTCHINSON – The Kansas Basketball Coaches Association released its latest girls basketball rankings Tuesday, and several Hutch Post–area programs hold prominent positions across the state’s classifications. The next poll will be released Dec. 16.

Halstead earned the highest placement among area teams, opening the week at No. 1 in Class 3A. The Dragons sit atop a field that includes Silver Lake, Osage City and Holcomb, while league rival Hesston also reached the rankings, coming in at No. 10 in the same classification.

Central Kansas also showed its strength in Class 2A, where Moundridge and Inman claimed the top two spots. Moundridge begins the week at No. 1 and Inman at No. 2, giving the area a strong early foothold in one of the state’s most competitive small-school divisions.

In Class 1A Division I, Little River added another top ranking for the region by opening at No. 1.

Hutchinson-Central Christian joined the list of area teams represented in the statewide polls by appearing at No. 8 in Class 1A Division II. Hanover, Linn and Bucklin lead the classification, with the Lions securing a spot in the top 10 following a strong opening stretch.

Buhler also entered the rankings this week, earning the No. 7 position in Class 4A.
