INMAN — Staffer for Kansas U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, Katie Sawyer of Inman has been announced as the Lt. Governor nominee to run with Republican Derek Schmidt in 2022.
According to Schmidt's campaign website, Sawyer is a fifth-generation Kansan and, along with her husband, a fourth-generation owner and operator of their family farm in McPherson County.
They manage the diversified crop operation, commercial cow herd, and Sawyer Family Angus. Under their leadership the operation has grown to include additional crop acres, cattle facilities, and pasture ground.
The 38-year-old is both a working mom and a conservative Republican woman. Sawyer was a journalist and editor of the McPherson Sentinel prior to working for Marshall.
