HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Interfaith Housing and Community Services has finished the first step of a housing complex at 701 S. Plum.
An open house of the Southern Pines Townhomes will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. The public is invited.
The complex, spearheaded by former Hutchinson Hospital CEO Gene Schmidt and his wife, will consist of eight two-bedroom duplex units designated for seniors 55 years old and older.
A percentage of the annual profits from this privately-funded housing project will be invested back into the Lincoln Neighborhood in the form of housing rehabilitation or other neighborhood needs.
“We are truly blessed to have been on this project journey with Gene and Kay Schmidt,” Clint Nelson of Interfaith Housing said. “Their vision and generosity has provided Interfaith a new revenue stream for decades of expanded impact in our community.”
