KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Royals will make a pair of roster moves as Major League Baseball expands active rosters from 26 to 28 players.

Rookie slugger Jac Caglianone, sidelined since July 27 with a left hamstring strain, will be activated Monday. The team also announced the promotion of top catching prospect Carter Jensen, marking his first call-up to the big leagues.

Jensen, 22, is a Kansas City native and a 2021 third-round draft pick out of Park Hill High School. He has split this season between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha, hitting .290 with a .377 on-base percentage and .501 slugging percentage. His production includes 20 doubles, five triples and 20 home runs.

With the Royals off Monday, Jensen’s first opportunity to debut will come Sept. 2 when Kansas City opens a home series against the Los Angeles Angels. The Royals will also host the Minnesota Twins from Sept. 5-7, setting up a likely hometown debut for Jensen at Kauffman Stadium.
