Karen Bea (Geffert) Chambers passed away on Feb. 20, 2021 at Baylor Scott & White All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born on July 23, 1941 to Russell and Bessie Geffert.

Karen was a 1959 graduate of Haven High School. She moved to Fort Worth, Texas with her husband and children and became a Commercial Artist for Branch Smith Publishing. In 1970, the family moved to Sealy, Texas and started The Brahman Journal. She was involved with 4H, FFA and her church’s youth groups. Once the children grew up, Karen and her husband moved back to Fort Worth where she worked for The Weekly Livestock Reporter. In 1984, Karen was honored with the Margaret McCaskey award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the profession of journalism. In 1986, Karen started her own printing company handling craft patterns such as “Designs by Sally” and livestock art for Orren Mixer. Karen was involved with both her local Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce. In 2006, Karen retired from the American Paint Horse Association. 

Sewing and crafts were lifelong hobbies and after retirement, making jewelry became her favorite thing to create and sell. Karen then moved to Cleburne, Texas, and continued to be involved in social events and loved to travel.

She is survived by her children, Kandy (Robert) Yates of Cleburne, Texas, and Price (BriAnne) Chambers of Vidor, Texas; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Yates, Braden Chambers, and Blaine Chambers; sister-in-law, Anne Geffert of Coweta, Oklahoma, and numerous cousins. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Russell Geffert, Bessie Mayfield Geffert Kohler, stepfather, Paul Kohler, and her brother, Karol Geffert.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 6, 2021 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Haven. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in care of Ott Funeral Home, P.O. Box 217, Haven KS 67543.
