  Lloyd D. Coon, 92, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.

Lloyd was born April 15, 1929 on a farm near Dalton, the son of Clarence and Lucy (Schmeissner) Coon.  He graduated from Belle Plaine High School, received a BA from Southwestern College and a Masters of Education from the University of Oklahoma.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He was a lifetime teacher and counselor.  He taught in Anthony, Bogue, Belleville and Hutchinson.  On May 25, 1954, he married Dorothy Burnett.  She passed away April 12, 2017.    Lloyd was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Duo Sunday School Class, The Hutchinson Breakfast Lions Club, American Legion Post 68 of Hutchinson and the NRA.

He is also preceded in death by his parents; and son, Roy Coon.

Lloyd is survived by his daughters, Betty (Tony) Vernier of Ohio and Mary Coon of Hutchinson; a son, Barry (Jeanne) Coon of Oklahoma; brother, Kenneth (Kay) Coon of New Mexico; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1602 N. Main, Hutchinson, with The Reverend Doctor Kim Biery officiating.  Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery.
