HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 30-year-old man serving a murder sentence at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility died.
The Kansas Department of Corrections says that Juan Caballeros-Yescas was found dead in his cell Wednesday morning, Jan. 18.
Despite lifesaving measures Caballeros-Yescas was pronounced dead by medical staff. The cause of death has yet to be determined. There will be an independent autopsy.
Per protocol, when an inmate dies in KDOC custody, that death is investigated by both the agency and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
The investigation continues.
Caballeros-Yescas was convicted for the July 2018 murder of his girlfriend in Sedgwick County.
