BUHLER, Kan. — Quick action by firefighters kept a Monday evening house fire from spreading beyond the kitchen of a home in Buhler.

According to Reno County Fire District #1, crews were dispatched at 7:41 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, to the 400 block of Prairie Park Lane after reports of a structure fire. Stations 50, 91 and 81 responded, along with a tender and engine from the Hutchinson Fire Department.

Firefighters arriving on scene found smoke and flames coming from a kitchen window. Attack crews made entry and quickly knocked down the fire, successfully containing it to the kitchen area.

While the flames were limited, officials reported heat and smoke damage throughout the remainder of the home.

No one was inside the residence at the time. The fire was first reported by nearby neighbors.

No injuries were reported, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
