🏀 No. 19 HutchCC women return to action Saturday at Colby

Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team opens the second semester of competition for the 2025-26 season on Saturday in Northwest Kansas.

The No. 19-ranked Blue Dragons (11-3, 6-2 KJCCC) travel to play the Colby Trojans (6-7, 3-4 KJCCC) at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Colby Event Center in Colby, Kansas.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 12:45 p.m. with Sean Boston (PBP) and Daren Dunn (color) calling the action. The game will be streamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 12:45 p.m.

The Blue Dragons last took the court 21 days ago on December 13, a 77-67 victory over Cloud County at the Sports Arena. That victory has Hutchinson in sole possession of third place in the Jayhawk Conference as the second half of the season begins. The Blue Dragons trail first-place and top-ranked Dodge City by 1.5 games in the standings. They are 0.5 games behind second-place Butler.

Colby is in 7th place in the KJCCC at the holiday break at 3-4. The Trojans dropped a 72-55 decision at Coffeyville on December 13 and had dropped 3 of its last 4 games entering the break.

With a 3-0 season-series sweep of the Trojans last season - Hutchinson defeated Colby 69-59 in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Region 6 Tournament at the Sports Arena - the Blue Dragons have won 22 consecutive games over Colby.

Entering play on Saturday, sophomore guard Katie Duncan is the Blue Dragons' leading scorer and the eighth-leading scorer in the KJCCC at 13.6 points per game and is eighth in the KJCCC at 2.8 steals per game.

Freshman KaMyra Barber is 11th in the league at 13.4 points per game. Barber is also 10th in the league in rebounding at 6.9 boards per game.

Blue Dragon freshman point guard Whitney Brown leads the Jayhawk in assists at 4.9 assists per game.

Sophomore forward Dessirae Ulmer is Colby's leading scorer at 12.7 points per game. Missing the first three games of the season, Ulmer is sixth in the KJCCC in field-goal percentage at 52.1 percent and is ninth in rebounding at 7.1 boards per game.
