Jacob J. Schrag |1932-2021|

Jacob J. Schrag, 89, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Hospice House in Hutchinson.  He was born on the family farm, south of McPherson on January 15, 1932, the youngest son of Jonas D. and Anna (Krehbiel) Schrag.

Jacob graduated from McPherson High School with the class of 1950.

During the Korean War, he served with the 1-W group at the Presbyterian Hospital in Denver, Colorado.

He was a member of Eden Mennonite Church in Moundridge.

Jacob was united in marriage to Esther Klingenberg on June 5, 1959 at Eden Mennonite Church.

On his homestead, Jacob had a dairy farm for 25 years, did custom silage cutting, and farmed crops.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Esther, of the home; son, Darrell (Bobbi) Schrag of Moundridge; daughter, Donna (Craig) Rodenfels of South Lake Tahoe, California; four grandchildren, Joseph Schrag, Hannah Schrag, Theron (Taleah) Ratzlaff, and Bryce Ratzlaff; four great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis (Pam) Schrag of Pacheco, California; sister, Arlene (Carrol) Zerger of Kingman; and sister-in-law, Twilla Schrag of Newton.

Jacob was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Anna Schrag; stepmother; siblings and their spouses, LaVerne (Irma) Schrag, Gilbert (Vida Schrag-Elwood) Schrag, Marilynn (Earl) Flickner, and Delmer Schrag.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 10 at Moundridge Funeral Home, with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
