Hutchinson High School football will be under new leadership this fall.

According to the personnel report approved during Monday night’s Hutchinson USD 308 Board of Education meeting, head football coach Mike Vernon was terminated effective December 11.

Hutchinson High School Activity Director Steve Kappenman, in a statement, tells Hutch Post, "We are taking Salthawk football in a new direction. We have posted the position and will open it up to potential candidates."

Vernon was 46-33 in eight seasons as the Salthawk's head coach including a 7-3 campaign in 2025.&nbsp;
