HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County Commissioner Randy Parks has announced his candidacy for the Kansas House of Representatives District 104 seat, setting up a race to succeed incumbent Rep. Paul Waggoner, who recently confirmed he will not seek re-election.
Parks, a lifelong Hutchinson resident, is currently serving as Reno County Commissioner for District 1 and is the board’s vice chairman. He previously served as commission chairman and has held a variety of leadership roles in the community.
In his campaign announcement, Parks highlighted deep local roots and decades of professional experience across technical, construction, maintenance and administrative fields.
“I’m proud to call Hutchinson my lifelong home,” Parks said. “My wife and I have built our life here, raised our family here, and remain committed to serving this community.”
Parks said his background has given him a practical understanding of the challenges facing Kansas families, businesses and communities. In addition to his role on the county commission, he has served as past president of the Central Kansas Manufacturing Association and currently sits on the Quivira Watershed Board and the Reno County Bond Council.
