TOPEKA, Kan. — The Kansas State High School Activities Association announced Friday that there may be a change to the venue for Class 4A, Class 3A and Class 2-1A baseball state tournaments.
Hoglund Ballpark in Lawrence is scheduled to be the host site, but KSHSAA says if the University of Kansas is selected to host an NCAA Regional, then the KSHSAA games will move to Tointon Family Stadium on the Kansas State University campus in Manhattan.
The semifinals, third-place game and championship game for 4A, 3A and 2-1A are all scheduled to be played in Lawrence, and would be impacted.
The NCAA announces its regional host sites on May 24, while the state tournaments are scheduled for May 27-29, so a quick turnaround would be needed.
The state quarterfinal rounds will be played at neutral sites, a change KSHSAA announced before the season, so those games will not be altered.
