HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County continued to defy the trend of a downturn in sales tax revenue as the July numbers were the highest ever.
Total sales tax revenue was $416,482 compared with $373,365 in 2019. Its also the highest sales tax report for 2020. Sales tax numbers for July reflect sales for the month of May.
Despite all of the talk of a slowdown in the economy due to the pandemic, shoppers apparently stayed in the buying mood.
The numbers add a little cushion to what could be a couple of tough months ahead. The July total actually brings the county sales tax above where it was at this time last year.
To date the county has taken in $2,663,543 for 2020 compared with around $2,639,461 in 2019
