After career highs for yards passing and touchdown passes, Hutchinson Community College sophomore quarterback Christian Johnson was named the KJCCC Football Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

The 5-foot-11, 206-pound sophomore from Montgomery, Alabama, led the No. 1-ranked Blue Dragons to a 76-8 triumph on Saturday at New Mexico Military.

Johnson completed 77.8 percent of his passes and tied a Hutchinson Blue Dragon Opening-Day record with five touchdown passes against New Mexico Military. Johnson completed 14 of 18 passes for a career-high 237 yards and threw touchdown passes of 62, 14, 18, 22 and 24 yards. Johnson played only one series into the third quarter.
