AMARILLO, Texas - Wichita mustered little offense after an early home run. A.J. Vukovich had a five RBI three hit game for the Sod Poodles and helped push them to an 8-2 victory over the Wind Surge. Amarillo wins the series taking four games to one with one to play.
The Wind Surge and the Sod Poodles both had a productive first inning. Alex Isola hit a 425 foot two-run home run that ricocheted off the scoreboard for an early Surge lead. Amarillo tied it right back up in the bottom of the inning when Vukovich hit an RBI double and Seth Beer hit an RBI single.
The Sod Poodles broke the tie in the bottom of the third. Vukovich hit a solo home run over the right center field wall.
Vukovich continued an impressive night of hitting in the bottom of the seventh. With the bases loaded he hit a three RBI double that bounced off the center field wall and increased the Sod Poodles lead to four.
Amarillo piled on a couple more runs in the bottom of the eighth. Tim Tawa hit a two-run home run over the left center field wall.
Travis Adams made his team leading 17th start of the season for the Wind Surge. He pitched five and two thirds innings and gave up three runs off eight hits. He struck out six batters and walked none. He was credited with the loss and his record falls to (2-7).
The starting pitcher for Amarillo was Yu-Min Lin. He pitched seven full innings and gave up two runs off four hits. He also struck out six batters and walked none. He earned the win.
The Wichita Wind Surge fall to (8-12, 36-52) and the Amarillo Sod Poodles improve to (14-6, 48-41).
NOTES: Alex Isola drilled his 12th home run of the season on his 25thbirthday. The Wind Surge had no hits in nine at bats with runners in scoring position and have hits in 34 at bats in the series.
