HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A former economist with the Kansas Policy Institute left the free-market group this past week, but he hopes he can continue to work for Kansans.
"I don't expect that to fundamentally change," said economist Michael Austin. "I will continue to educate passionate Kansans about ways that they can find their own path to prosperity without having to rely so much on government."
Austin played coy when asked about what he would do next.
"I lecture in microeconomics at a university here in northeast Kansas, I don't see any reason why I won't continue that. As for other venues, this is something that I'm most certainly looking forward towards, I'm actually pretty excited about the many different ways that I can continue to help folks."
Austin has made waves during his time with KPI in interpreting COVID-19 data in an effort to clarify areas that he saw as unclearly interpreted by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
