
Home sales across South Central Kansas saw another strong month in September, with total sales rising 8.9% compared to the same time last year, according to data released by the South Central Kansas MLS.
A total of 928 homes were sold in September 2025, up from 852 in 2024. The largest growth came from the existing home market, where 700 homes changed hands—an increase of 12.5% from last year. The average sale price for existing homes climbed to $264,657, up 6.8% from the September 2024 average of $247,737.
New construction also showed positive momentum. Eighty-nine newly built homes were sold in September, a 9.9% increase over the 81 units sold a year ago. However, the average price of new homes dipped slightly to $362,785, down 3.1% from the same period last year.
Future sales activity also looks promising. A total of 933 new contracts were written during September—an 8.2% increase from the 862 contracts recorded in September 2024. Those pending sales are expected to translate into completed transactions in the months ahead.
Meanwhile, housing inventory continues to expand. At the end of September, 2,427 homes were listed for sale across South Central Kansas, up from 1,912 at the same time last year
