The Hutchinson Polar Plunge is set to return later this month, inviting participants to brave icy waters in support of Special Olympics Kansas.

This year’s event will take place Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, at Midwest Superstore. Registration opens at 9 a.m., with plunging scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

Participants can take part as individuals or form teams to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Kansas, which provides year-round sports training and competition opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Organizers encourage plungers to bring their enthusiasm — and creativity — as costumes are a popular and festive part of the event.

The Polar Plunge has become a signature winter fundraiser in communities across the state, combining chilly fun with a meaningful cause. Community members are invited to come out to plunge, cheer on participants, or support the effort through donations.

Organizers say the event promises a high-energy morning filled with excitement, camaraderie, and community spirit — all while making a splash for a great cause.
