Earl Irvan Montford, 83, was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, on March 18, 1938, and with family at his side, passed away there on December 17, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his parents Irvan C. and Opal (Lee) Montford, and infant sister Carolyn Joyce. Earl grew up in Turon, Kansas and, after high school graduation, joined the Army Reserves. He then attended Hutchinson Junior College. In 1960, he married Karen (Wisby) Montford with whom he raised three children. They divorced in 2004. After working a brief time at Cessna in Hutchinson, he began working at the National Cash Register Company (NCR) which was his career for the next 35 years. Upon retirement, he enjoyed life roaming parts of the U.S. in his RV. After many adventures, he settled in Hutchinson for his final years.
Survivors include two sons Brian, Dallas, Texas, and Brett (Michelle), St. Joseph, Missouri, and a daughter, Deanne Gaede Book, Bellevue, Nebraska, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren, a sister Norma Lee Smith, Buhler, Kansas, brothers Carl (Barbara), Seattle, Washington, Gary (Jeanie), Overland Park, Kansas, and Leon (Jan), Turon, Kansas, many nieces, nephews, relatives and numerous friends.
Visitation at Old Mission Heritage Funeral Home is Wednesday, December 22, 2021 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Service is Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Old Mission Heritage is located at 528 N. Main Street, Hutchinson, Kansas 67501.
