NEWTON – Grant Hatzenbuehler carded his second eagle of the tournament and was the leading golfer for the No. 3-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's golf team on Monday in the second round of the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational at Sand Creek Station.

The Blue Dragons shot a 2-over 290 on Monday and are tied for 12th after 36 holes at 589. The Blue Dragons are tied with Indian Hills, which shot 292 on Monday.

The third and final round is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Sand Creek Station.

Hatzenbuehler shot a 1-under 71 on Monday to lead the Blue Dragons. He eagled the 525-yard par-5 16th hole on Monday for his second eagle of the tournament and fourth of the fall season. Hatzenbuehler had one bogey and 16 pars for his third sub-par round of the season. Hatzenbuehler is tied for 21st after 36 holes.

The Blue Dragons counted scores on Monday from Hatzenbuehler, Mark Hewlett (72), Ronnie Gibb (73) and Jack Northgraves (74).

Round 1 Blue Dragon leader, sophomore Corey Scullion, got off to a tough start on Monday and played the front nine in 4-over par. He closed with eight pars and a birdie on his last hole to close with a 75. He is tied for 29th after two rounds.

Hewlett improved five strokes from Sunday's opening round with an even-par 72. Hewlett finished at even par with a birdie on his final home. Hewlett is tied for 53rd after 36 holes.

Northgraves is tied for 68th at 151 after a second-round 74. Gibb made a six-stroke improvement from the first round with a 73. He is tied for 74th at 152.

Blue Dragon individual player Joe Austin shot a 76 on Monday and is tied for 82nd at 155.

St. Thomas University shot a 282 on Monday and took over the team lead at 571. Wichita State is two strokes behind at 573. The Shockers shot 281 on Monday). Odessa and Midland are tied for sixth at 582. Garden City is 15th at 597 and Dodge City is 17th at 610.
