Helena Margo (Bartell) Meyer, affectionately known as “Tootie,” of Valley Center, passed away on June 21, 2022, in Wichita. She was born January 21, 1945, at Plaquemine, LA to Eugene Henry Bartell and Lillian Yvonne (Roseman) Bartell Bryan. Tootie spent most of her childhood and early adulthood in Topeka. She was a graduate of Topeka High School. She married Ronald Harold Meyer on December 26, 1962. Tootie, Ronnie, and their three children also lived in Springfield, MO, Wichita, KS, and Valley Center, (where she had resided for the past 45 years).
Through the years, Tootie worked for several businesses and corporations in numerous occupations. She retired seventeen years ago. Tootie coached girls’ softball and spent a great deal of time attending games and events that her children and grandchildren were involved in. Not only did she support her children and grandchildren, but she also supported domestic animals.
She is survived by her husband Ronald Meyer of Valley Center, KS; son Ron L. Meyer (Jeff) of Kansas City, MO; and daughter Chris Woods (Ron) of Belle Plaine; two sisters: Susie Bryan of Roseburg, OR, and Annie Bomberry of Newton; two brothers: Mike Bryan of Topeka, and Louis Bryan of Greeley, CO; six grandchildren: Zachary, Brandon, Melissa, Marcus, Jonathan, and Everett; and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her two four-legged fur companions: Duke and Attack Cat.
Tootie was preceded in death by her mother Lillian, her father Eugene, her stepfather Rudolph Bryan, her sister Vicki Weller, her brother Mervin Bartell, and her daughter Carol Meyer.
Service 11:00 a.m., July 9, 2022 at the Peace Lutheran Church in New Cambria. A graveside will follow at Highland Cemetery in New Cambria. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kansas Humane Society at 3313 N. Hillside St., Wichita, KS 67219.
