The Hutchinson Fire Department has received a $4,999 grant from the Kansas Forest Service through its 50/50 cost-share program.
The funds have been used to purchase vital communications equipment, hand tools, and safety gear that will support the department’s wildland firefighting operations.
“These tools are essential to keeping our crews safe and effective when responding to wildland fires,” the department said in a statement. “We send a huge thank-you to the Kansas Forest Service and appreciate their ongoing support.”
The 50/50 grant program is designed to assist local fire departments across Kansas with purchasing equipment and training needed to enhance their wildland firefighting capabilities.
