Haven council to take up vacant police officer position Monday

HAVEN, Kan. — The Haven City Council will give consideration to fill a vacant position on the Haven police force during Monday’s meeting.

The city has been short an officer for almost two months, but will go into executive session along with Police Chief Stephen Schaffer and City Manager Leslie Atherton to review applicants. Action is expected to be taken up by the council following the executive session.

Also Monday, the board will consider a $10,000 grant for Jonell Harper's Daisy Jo's Ice Cream parlor, which she hopes to open in July, and get an energy update on the new Evergy substation located near Burrton.

Monday’s meeting begins at 7 p.m. and will be held via Zoom.
