Redshirt-freshman quarterback Randy Phillips threw for a career-best four touchdown passes to lead the No. 2-ranked Hutchinson Community College football team to a 76-3 road win at Ellsworth on Saturday.

Phillips was named the KJCCC Football Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday for his performance against the Panthers last Saturday.

Phillips, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound quarterback from Hollywood, Florida, completed 11 of 20 passes for 133 yards and threw for touchdowns of 15, 7, 4 and 40 yards in two quarters and one series of the third quarter.

Phillips has seven touchdown passes through the first two games of the season.

The Blue Dragon quarterback is the second-straight Hutchinson player to earn Offensive Player of the Week honors. Last week, receiver Bobby Shaw III was named the league's top offensive player.

Hutchinson is off this week with its only bye of the season. The Blue Dragons return to action at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 12 against nationally ranked Garden City at Gowans Stadium in the Jayhawk Conference opener.
