Bret Michael Smith, 35, of Andover, passed away May 2, 2021. He was born November 26, 1985, in Hutchinson, to Lisa J. Wilson.
Bret graduated from Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson Community College, and earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Fort Hays State University in 2010. He began his career with Dillons in 2003 as a Courtesy Clerk in Hutchinson and was working as Store Manager at the Winfield store. Bret was recently promoted and was set to begin a new chapter in his career as a Dillons Expense Sustainability Manager.
An avid Texas Rangers fan, he enjoyed playing baseball and football at Hutch High, and then was a Rookie Modified dirt track racer (#82B). He also played golf in addition to working out. Bret loved spending time with his family and friends at backyard barbeques, and touched many lives with his infectious smile and warm personality.
He is survived by: his mother, Lisa Wilson of Hutchinson; sister, Maci Wilson of Hutchinson; grandparents, Fred Smith of Hutchinson, Sam and Esther Eash of South Hutchinson; uncles, Doug Smith (Shannon) of Kansas City, KS, Don Smith of Houston, TX; aunt, Lori Schneider of Houston, TX; cousins, Jordan Smith, Alyssa Bilyeu, Taylor Smith, Hannah Schneider; and many friends and associates who will miss him dearly.
Bret was preceded in death by his grandmother, Patricia Smith.
Private family graveside service will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family present from 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2021, at Elliott Mortuary.
