GODDARD, Kan.—Hutch High Baseball dropped their last two regular season games to Goddard Eisenhower Tuesday at Tiger Field in Goddard by identical 11-1 scores.
Game 1 recap-
Game 1 was a suspended game picked up in the bottom of the 4th inning with Goddard leading 7-1 with a runner on third base. Eisenhower scored Carson Adams to make it 8-1, then added 2 runs in the bottom of the fifth when 1st baseman Ethan Eddy knocked in 2 RBI's with a double to left. In the sixth, Cody Hawks doubled, was sacrificed to third and then scored on an error to finish the run rule in 6 innings for Eisenhower.
Tyner Horn got the win for Eisenhower. Horn went five and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out 13. Cooper Adams threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen. Nolyn Cunningham took the loss for Hutchinson. Cunningham allowed three hits and five runs over two innings. Kinser Newquist and Mason Seitz each managed one hit to lead Hutchinson in batting. Carson Adams went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Eisenhower in hits.
Game 2 recap-
Game 2 was more of the same as the Salthawks lost again in six inning losing 11-1 to Eisenhower.
Hutchinson got things going in the first with Kinser Newquist driving in a run to take the lead with a double.
In the bottom of the first inning, Eisenhower tied things up at one when Ethan Eddy grounded out, scoring one run. Eisenhower pulled away for good with a run in the second inning when Carson Roy drew a walk, scoring the lead run.
Eisenhower then scored four runs in the sixth inning. Eddy, Tyner Horn, and Owen Rush powered the big inning, all with RBIs. Kameron Clark was the winning pitcher for Eisenhower. Clark allowed two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out one and walking none. Bentley Eckhoff took the loss for Salthawks. Eckhoff surrendered four runs on one hit over three innings, striking out two.
Newquist , Lakin Franz , Caiden Beavers, Carter Morgan, and Jack Yoder all had one hit to lead the Salthawks. Eisenhower hit the ball well, racked up 11 hits in the game. Cooper Adams, Carson Adams, and Roy each had multiple hits for Eisenhower.
Eisenhower hosts Great Bend on Friday to close out their regular season.
Hutch High now will have to wait to see what regional they will be assigned to. That decision will be made Saturday when KSHSAA releases the regional assignments for 6A.
