The next seven games in the Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team will go a long way to determine where the Blue Dragons ultimately finish in the Jayhawk Conference title chase.

The opening game of that key stretch is Wednesday night as the No. 18-ranked Blue Dragons (14-4, 9-3) open the second half of the Jayhawk Conference season against the Garden City Broncbusters (12-5, 7-5). Game time at Conestoga Arena in Garden City is 5:30 p.m.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 5:15 p.m. with Sean Boston (PBP) calling the action. The game will be streamed for free on the Blue Dragon Sports Network beginning at 5:15 p.m.

Over the next seven games the Blue Dragons will face two nationally ranked opponents and five teams in the upper half of the KJCCC.

Hutchinson is tied for second in the league standings with Coffeyville two games behind co-leaders Butler and Dodge City. The Blue Dragons play No. 8 Butler on Saturday at the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons have won two games in a row after a 77-58 win over Fort Hays Tech Northwest on Saturday at the Sports Arena. Five players scored in double figures led by freshman KaMyra Barber's 14 points.

Garden City has lost two games on a row against Colby and Coffeyville. The Broncbusters are 6-4 in their last 10 games played.

Garden's leading scorer, Sokhna Ndiaye, has missed the last four games and 6 of the last 7 games. She was averaging 18.0 points per game this season and had a team-high 11 points in Hutchinson's 64-47 victory over Garden City on Nov. 19 at the Sports Arena.

Katie Duncan and Dylan Alexander had 12 points each to lead the Blue Dragons in that November win over Garden City. Hutchinson held the Busters to 32.1 percent overall shooting and only five 3-pointers. The Dragons also forced 28 Garden City turnovers in that first meeting.

The Blue Dragons look to extend a 16-game winning streak over Garden City. The Broncbusters last defeated Hutchinson in 2016.
