
Mrs. Francisca Omoniyi Ferreira passed away at Diversicare Nursing Facility in Hutchinson, KS on August 19, 2020 of natural causes. She was 89 years old. Francisca was born in Lagos, Nigeria on October 28, 1930 to the parents of Chief and Mrs. Alfred Olaribigbe Oshodi. She was the youngest of eight siblings.
In 1951 Francisca met, fell in love, and married Adekunle Alfred Ferreira. They remained together for 27 years until his untimely death in 1978. To this union one child was born, Obafemi.
At an early age Francisca devoted her life to Christ. She remained a member of Igbala Otito Church in Lagos, Nigeria. She served faithfully in the Women’s Mission where they did outreach in the community trying to bring the loss to the full knowledge of Christ. For many years she served as Financial Secretary of her church until she relocated to the United States.
She opened a successful catering business in Lagos where she was able to be of service to others. She loved people and people loved her.
Francisca’s hobbies included sewing garments, watching movies, cooking her native foods, and traveling to the city of Ibadan to visit family. She also found joy in flying to several European countries where family and friends welcomed her. One of her greatest joys was sitting in her quiet place reading her Bible every day.
She lived a long and fulfilling life as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister and believer in Christ. She will be greatly missed for her sense of humor as well as her concern for others. Mrs. Ferreira’s legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with.
Mrs. Francisca Ferreira is survived by her son, Dr. Femi Ferreira (Dollie) of McDonough, Georgia; two grandsons, Adekunle Ferreira of Kansas City, Missouri and Ayodeji Ferreira of Houston, Texas. She is further survived by a stepdaughter, Sheyi Ferreira, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends in Nigeria and throughout the United States and England.
Francisca was preceded in death by her parents Chief and Mrs. Alfred Olaribigbe Oshodi, loving and devoted husband, Adekunle Alfred Ferreira, and seven siblings.
Services will take place at the Hutchinson Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be the morning preceding the service only. Rev. William J. Green Sr. of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church is presiding.
