🏈 3 future Blue Dragons to play in Kansas Shrine Bowl Game Saturday

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Three future Hutchinson Community College football players will play one final game representing their high schools, as the 51st annual Kansas Shrine Bowl Game will kickoff on Saturday.

The game will begin at 7 p.m. at Welch Stadium on the campus of Emporia State University. 

DaeOnte' "Paco" Mitchell (Wichita East) and Blaise Hoover (McPherson) will each represent the West Team, while Kaleb Scott (Basehor-Linwood) will be on the East Team. Mitchell will wear jersey number 

Mitchell will go down as one of the best to ever play in the Greater Wichita Athletic League. He finished his prep career at East as the all-time passing yards leader (7,848) and the all-time total yards leader (11,168). The dual-threat quarterback also etched his name in the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame record book for his strong senior campaign. Mitchell holds the 11-man single season passing completion percentage (82.4), and also is now the 11-man career passing completion percentage (77.6) holder.

Hoover finished up his time at McPherson High School with a bang, claiming the individual class 4A state golf title in the spring. Hoover finished off his round with a Birdie and an Eagle to claim the title by two shots. Hoover was also a big part of the Bullpups' success on the gridiron, both as a kicker and a wide receiver. Hoover racked up the all-league honors for football, as he was named the Offensive Player of the Year, plus First-Team at receiver, kicker and punter.

Scott was an explosive playmaker for the Basehor-Linwood Bobcats, on all three sides of the football. Scott returned three kickoffs for touchdowns this past fall, plus had over 800 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Scott had over 1400 all-purpose yards, the most on the team. He was named to the United Kansas Conference First-Team at defensive back.

Other area student-athletes that will be participating in the game on Saturday include Teegan Haines (McPherson), Tristen Davidson (Kingman), Mason Jones (Hutchinson), and Nick Ruth (Newton).

McPherson head coach Jace Pavlovich will serve as the head coach for the West Team.
