McPherson Fire Department Chief Chad Mayberry has been selected for two state-level appointments involving fire safety and recognition of fallen firefighters across Kansas.

Mayberry has been appointed by Gov. Laura Kelly to the Governor’s Uniform Fire Code Task Force. In that role, he will help review Kansas fire prevention standards and recommend potential updates to the state’s uniform fire code.

The task force's work is focused on improving life safety, consistency in fire prevention standards and fire protection across Kansas.

Mayberry has also been appointed to serve on the Kansas Fallen Firefighter Memorial Board.

The board works to preserve and honor the legacy of Kansas firefighters who have died in the line of duty while serving their communities.

The McPherson community recognized Mayberry for the appointments, noting his leadership and dedication to the fire service at both the local and state levels.

“Congratulations Chief on these well-deserved appointments and thank you for continuing to represent the MFD and our community at the state level,” the announcement said.
