
RKANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Hutchinson High Salthawks closed out the December portion of the 2025-26 schedule in emphatic fashion, sweeping Ark City on the road Friday night at the Ark City High School Gymnasium.
The Hutchinson girls rolled to a 71-16 victory, while the Salthawk boys pulled away in the second half for a 66-37 win over the Bulldogs.
Girls Recap:
Ark City scored the game’s first basket to take a brief 3-0 lead, but that was as close as it would get.
Hutchinson answered immediately and never looked back, erupting for 46 first-half points and limiting the Bulldogs to just five points after halftime in a dominant 71-16 rout.
Tenley Keaton led a balanced Lady Salthawk attack with 17 points as Hutchinson placed four players in double figures. Lynnea Alvarez added 16 points, Danai Morgan chipped in 14 and Kolbie Craft finished with 12.
Hutchinson knocked down 10 3-pointers at a blistering 48 percent clip and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. The win was the fourth straight for the Lady Salthawks, who improved to 4-2 on the season.
Hutchinson will return to action Jan. 6, hosting Maize South at the Salthawk Activity Center.

Hutchinson carried a 27-20 lead into halftime, then turned up the defensive pressure to open the third quarter with a 13-0 run, creating separation on the way to a 66-37 victory.
Danny Boone and Lamar Govain powered the Salthhawks offensively, combining for 35 points while shooting a combined 16-of-19 from the field. Govain led Hutchinson with 19 points, Boone added 16, and the duo committed just one turnover apiece. The Salthhawks shot a red-hot 61 percent for the game.
Trevin Miller came off the bench to pace Ark City with 13 points.
Hutchinson closed December with a 2-4 record and will resume its season Jan. 6 at home against Maize South.
