
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The dry weather is taking a bit of a toll on the winter wheat crop in Kansas.
According to numbers released by the Kansas Ag Statistics Service, 22% of the crop is in poor to very poor condition, while 45% is in fair shape and 44% in good to excellent condition.
Officials say 94% of the wheat has emerged in south central Kansas. More than 50% of the state's top soil moisture level is rated as short to very short, while 48% is rated as adequate.
Cotton harvest in the area continues to move along with 62% of the crop harvested.
