McPHERSON, Kan. — Wichita Collegiate claimed the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Division 3 & 4 boys tennis championship on Monday at McPherson High School, finishing with 61 points to secure the team title.
Buhler placed second with 43 points, followed closely by Winfield (41) and host McPherson (40). El Dorado finished fifth with 22, followed by Wellington (19), Circle (16), and Augusta (10).
Up next is regional play on Friday. Buhler will host a regional site that includes Augusta, El Dorado, Hesston, Towanda-Circle, Wellington and Winfield. McPherson will travel to the Scott City regional alongside Abilene, Colby, Concordia, Pratt, Ulysses and host Scott City.
Singles
Buhler’s Von Woleslagel led area competitors with a fourth-place finish. He fell in the third-place match to Collegiate’s Vihaan Ganganala, 6-2, 6-4, after dropping his semifinal match to eventual champion William Farha of Collegiate, 6-0, 6-1. Farha went on to defeat Jackson Davis of Winfield in the final, 6-1, 6-3.
McPherson’s Cooper Bohme defeated Buhler’s Tucker Schlatter in the seventh-place match, 6-1, 6-2. McPherson's Manny Morales placed 11th after an 8-5 win over Augusta’s Dax Henderson.
Doubles
Buhler’s Davian Spies and Reuben Harder finished runner-up in doubles after falling in the finals to Collegiate’s Charlie Gentile and Amir Khicha, 6-2, 6-1.
McPherson’s Bryson Archer and Alex Berger placed third, defeating teammates Jonas Emery and Mason Eisenbarth, 6-3, 6-2.
