MCPHERSON, Kan. —The McPherson County All Schools Day committee has decided the event will be a "scaled-down" version this year.

"We are still finalizing the events that will take place," the group said on Facebook Tuesday. "We do know we will not have a parade, concession area, or carnival. We are eager to bring back these events next year."

The committee has not finalized which events will be able to take place and they still plan to announce the 2021 theme in the coming weeks, but their intent as of the post Tuesday is to hold some events, like the May Fete performances that take place earlier in the week.

The event, which started as a celebration to honor eighth-grade graduates more than a century ago, had its in person activities canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic. The parade traditionally takes place on the second Friday in May. In 2021, that is May 14.
