DERBY — The Hutchinson Monarchs won Tuesday over Derby at Panther Park 6-5.
The Monarchs trailed 3-0 after three innings before bouncing back with a pair of runs in the fourth to cut the Twins lead to one. Derby stretched it back out in the bottom half to 4-2. The Monarchs tied it up in the sixth and took the lead in the seventh. They got an insurance run in the ninth that they ended up needing, but hung on to win.
Cole Cosman homered for Hutchinson and had two RBI. Breck Nowik also plated two runs in his first action for the Monarchs. Caden Pogue got the win for the Monarchs in relief, with just one unearned run coming across on two hits with two walks and six strikeouts in three innings of work.
Hutchinson plays again at Derby Wednesday night. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
