Rowena B. Albright, 96, slipped peacefully from this earthly life to the one especially prepared for her by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Oct. 30, 2021. She was born Feb. 17, 1925, at Elk City, Oklahoma to Ira and Cecil Burwell who preceded her in death. She married Donald E. Albright on Oct. 1, 1943 at Camp Roberts, Monterey, California. He died on Aug. 30, 2016.
She leaves to mourn her passing and to carry on her legacy: sons Bruce (Kim), Leon, and Edward (Janeen); daughters Janet (Tom) Rogers, and Sharlan (Michael) Graber; sister June Coleman; brother Paul Burwell; grandchildren Christopher, Garry, Erin and Megan; Tambra, Jennifer, Micah, and Michael; Jana and Gloria; Jeremy and Anna; Skylar and Kassidy; great-grandchildren Savannah, Tyler, Emily, Andrew, Carson, Bentley, Cole, and Austin, Keelan and Brogan, Tristan, Sophia, Zachary, Breann, Blaine, and Matthew, Jack and Henry, Darianna and Parker, Arya and Wyatt; great-great grandchildren Brooklyn and Thea. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the UMW, Pretty Prairie; and the Rebekah’s Lodge. She attended Merritt Consolidated School in Oklahoma, Halstead Grade School, Hutchinson Junior High School and graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1943. She was also a 1968 graduate of Sterling College. She taught in the Kingman Middle School for twenty years.
She served six terms as Reno County Representative to the Silver Haired Legislature and was president of the council for one year. She held local and district offices in the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church and UMW and was a Hutchinson District Lay Speaker. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society, KNEA and Better Homes EHU. She served as a volunteer for Hospice, Prairie Sunset Home and was a Kansas Volunteer Ombudsman for three years.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 2021 at the Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Livingston Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Lone Star Cemetery.
