GOODLAND, Kan. — No. 1 Hutchinson (8-0, 2-0) had zero problems with Fort Hays Tech Northwest (0-6, 0-2) Saturday on the road.
The Dragon defense held the Tigers (formerly the Mavericks of Northwest Kansas Tech) to six points per quarter through the first three frames.
The Dragons stifled opponents for five-straight quarters (going back to the second half at Barton Wednesday night) by holding them to an average of six points per quarter.
The Dragons held the Tigers to just four first-quarter points and built a 17-4 advantage.
That lead swelled to 26 at halftime behind nine Hailey Jackson points.
Jackson finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds, her sixth-career double-double and fourth this season.
After starting the last two games, Brynne Katcher came off the bench and added 12 points.
The Dragons used a 30-4 third-quarter run to build a 56-point lead late in the fourth.
Hutchinson shot 55% from the field and held Tech to 20%, including just 3-of-19 (15.8%) from three.

The Dragons have now won 45-games straight, including 30 in conference play.
