The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is inviting residents, business owners, and motorists to learn more about the ongoing U.S. 56 expansion study during two public open houses scheduled next week.

KDOT will host the first open house on Tuesday, Dec. 9, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the McPherson Community Building, located at 122 E. Marlin St. The second session will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 10, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Marion Community Center, 203 N. Third St.

Both events will present the same information, giving attendees flexibility to choose the location most convenient for them.

The open houses will provide an opportunity for the public to review preliminary study details, potential roadway concepts, and early findings related to the proposed expansion between McPherson and Marion. KDOT project staff will be available to answer questions and gather feedback from residents, stakeholders, and travelers who rely on the corridor.

For those unable to attend in person, all materials shared at the meetings will be available online for review and public comment through Dec. 24 at: ksdot.gov/US56-McPherson-Marion

KDOT encourages community members to participate, noting that public input plays a vital role in shaping future transportation improvements along U.S. 56.
