LAWRENCE, Kan. — JHX Hoops is two wins away from a $2 million prize after eliminating defending champion AfterShocks, 64-59, in The Basketball Tournament.
The Kansas alumni team will face Kentucky alumni squad La Familia at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Historic Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Kentucky. The semifinal will be televised on FS1, with the winner advancing to the TBT championship and earning the right to host the title game.
Zeke Mayo has scored 25 points in each of JHX Hoops’ past two games, while Frank Mason III has delivered three consecutive Elam Ending game-winners. Washburn alumnus Jacob Hanna has also provided strong defense during the deepest TBT run by a Kansas alumni team.
JHX Hoops advanced despite losing several players to ejections during Tuesday’s victory in Wichita.
La Familia is making its second semifinal appearance after reaching the same round in 2024. Former NBA center Willie Cauley-Stein headlines the roster, but guard Archie Goodwin has led the offense recently, scoring 22 points against The Ville and 30 in a 70-66 victory over Boeheim’s Army.
Darryl Morsell is averaging 14 points and 7.3 rebounds for La Familia, while former Kentucky guard Andrew Harrison is another key contributor.
“Kentucky’s a good team,” JHX coach Sherron Collins told Kansas Nation. “They’re going to guard, they’re long, they got some shooters. They got kind of everything that you need. So we’ll get to the film, we’ll watch them and we’ll go prepare and be ready for them. But it’s going to be a tough game and an even tougher atmosphere.”
