NAACP Youth holding Juneteenth events

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The 5th Annual Hutchinson Juneteenth Celebration hosted by The NAACP Youth, City of Hutchinson, and Hutch In Harmony is Thursday and Friday, June 13th and 14th.

The annual Youth Talent Show will begin Thursday at 6 p.m. Mayor Greg Fast will give opening remarks along with newly hired Human Relations Officer, Jonathan Vann, as well as the NAACP President and NAACP Youth representatives. Performances will be given by the previous year’s winners, Alexia Jobe, Ruby Tovar-Contreras, and Clara Crumble.

The talent show is for youth ages 21 and under and is free to enter. Participants are broken into 3 age groups, 13 and up, 8-12, and 3-7.

The grand prizes are $200 for 13 and up, $75 for ages 8-12 and $25 for ages 2-7.

Friday, June 14th beginning at 7 p.m. is our Annual BBQ. Free hot dogs, drinks and chips are available.

Both evenings will include multiple vendors. Hutchinson Regional Medical Center will be on hand with multiple scans and tests available to help individuals track and evaluate their health needs, as well as healthy food samples. Other vendors will include, Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Fight The Stigma, Hutch In Harmony, Youth City Council , NAACP, Kona Ice, Salt

City Scoops, Countryboy Taste, The Rusted Bucket, Bounce House, as well as crafts and games for the youth.

T-Shirts and Tumblers are available to commemorate the 5th Anniversary of this event here in Hutchinson.
