SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Graham Brown hit a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning to lift the Wichita Wind Surge to a 7-6 victory over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Wednesday night at Arvest Ballpark.
Brown’s first Double-A hit and home run erased a 6-3 deficit and gave Wichita the lead for good. He finished with four RBIs in his first start for the Wind Surge.
Wichita tied the game at 2 in the fifth and took a 3-2 lead on Jay Thomason’s RBI single in the sixth. Northwest Arkansas answered with a three-run homer and added a sacrifice fly before Brown’s decisive slam.
Sam Armstrong allowed two runs on three hits over five innings, retiring the final nine batters he faced. Mitch Mueller pitched two scoreless innings for his first save.
Khadim Diaw extended his hitting streak to 16 games, the longest active streak in the Texas League. Marek Houston pushed his on-base streak to 28 games.
