
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Fire crews responded to a reported structure fire in the 800 block of East Eighth Avenue on Monday afternoon, where firefighters quickly contained a blaze at the rear of a home.
When crews arrived, they found a small exterior fire on the back of the residence. Firefighters made an aggressive exterior attack and brought the fire under control, preventing it from spreading further into the structure.
The home was occupied at the time of the fire, but the homeowner escaped safely. Reno County EMS evaluated the resident at the scene and later released them.
Fire officials said damage was limited to the exterior and first floor of the residence. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
