🏀 Duncan, Anthon huge games lead No. 13 Dragons past Triton

SEDALIA, Missouri – Sophomores Katie Duncan and Noelle Anthon had career games to lead the No. 13-ranked Hutchinson Community College women’s basketball team to a dominant victory over Triton College on the final day of the State Fair Classic.

The Blue Dragons shot 50 percent for the second-straight game as Hutchinson rolled to a 87-59 victory over the Trojans at the at the Davis Multipurpose Center.

Now 2-0, the Blue Dragons are set for their home openers next weekend in the BSN Sports Tipoff Classic against NEO and Neosho County on Friday and Saturday at the Sports Arena.

Duncan posted a career scoring high for the second-straight game, scoring 24 points against Triton. She had a career-high four 3-pointers on 10 attempts and was 9 of 16 shooting overall. Duncan also had a career-high five assists.

Anthon had career highs for points and rebounds in posting her first career double-double. Anthony had 13 points on 5 of 9 shooting and grabbed 14 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards.

Freshman KaMaya Barber had season highs of 20 points and nine rebounds. She hit 6 of 11 shots overall with three 3-point goals. Jamaya McPherson had 11 points.

The Blue Dragons shot 50.0 percent (30 of 60) overall, going 10 of 28 from 3-point range and 17 of 23 from the free-throw line. The Dragons dominated the boards, outrebounding Triton 48-22 with 17 offensive rebounds.

The Blue Dragons had 21 assists, led by Dylan Alexander’s career-best seven assists.

Jayla Rankin’s 17 points led Triton, which shot 35.9 percent (23 of 64). The Trojans were 9 of 23 from 3-point range and 17 of 23 from the foul line.

GAME NOTES – This was Hutchinson’s first-ever meeting with Triton. … The Blue Dragons shot 56.3 percent from the field through the first three quarters in building a 72-44 lead entering the fourth quarter. … The Blue Dragons outscored Triton 34-19 in points in the paint and owned a 21-7 advantage on second-chance points.
