Regional softball begins this week for several Hutch Post area teams under a new postseason format for Class 3A and Class 2-1A.
Teams in Class 3A and Class 2-1A are now placed into four geographic regions and seeded into regional tournament brackets. The brackets are split by seed lines, with one side including seeds 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12, 13 and 16, and the other including seeds 2, 3, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14 and 15.
The winner of each regional tournament advances to the state tournament. If a region has more than 16 teams, only the top 16 teams appear in the bracket. Teams not included in the bracket may schedule a game on their own.
Class 3A softball quarterfinal games will be played Tuesday at the higher seed. Semifinal and championship games are scheduled for Thursday at the highest remaining seed. Rainout dates are the following days.
Class 2-1A softball quarterfinal games will be played Monday at the higher seed. Semifinal and championship games are scheduled for Wednesday at the highest remaining seed. Rainout dates are the following days.
