
Martin James “Marty” Killham Jr., 64, of Hutchinson, died May 19, 2021, at his home in Hutchinson. He was born on February 25, 1957, in Lewistown, Montana to Martin and Shirley (Stephens) Killham.
Marty graduated from Fergus County High School in Lewistown, Montana and attended Montana Technological School of Mining, where he played football and basketball. He worked in construction in gold mines, as a hunting guide, and raising, cutting, and reigning quarter horses. Marty was a talented athlete and avid outdoorsman. He was passionate about hunting, golfing, water skiing, and many other activities. Marty remained active and determined even after being severely injured while guiding a hunting trip. He overcame many obstacles to continue doing the things he loved. Marty also had a special relationship with his grandfather, Noisey, and loved working on the ranch with him.
On November 24, 1990, he married Joy Spika, in Lewistown, Montana. They shared 30 years together. He also had a special attachment to his many fur babies, several of which also has special medical needs.
Marty is survived by: wife, Joy Killham, Hutchinson; mother, Shirley Myers, Las Vegas; mother-in-law, Virginia Spika, McMinnville, Oregon ; sister, Cindie Evans (Tom), Las Vegas; brother, Russ Killham (Lori), Lewistown, Montana; sister, Jamie Noel (Terry), sister-in-law, Chris Browne, McMinnville, Oregon; brother-in-law, Nick Spika (Janice), Tacoma, Washington; and many nieces and nephews, but especially Jamie Horacek and Jason Noel, who he had a special bond with. Marty had many lifelong friends and loved his neighborhood children.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Jim Killham; father-in-law, Frank Spika; grandparents, C.C. “Noisy” and Myrtle Killham; grandparents, Russ and Effie Stephens; and brother, Steve Killham.
Cremation has taken place and there are no services at this time.
Memorials are suggested to the Martin James Killham Jr. Memorial Fund, which will benefit special needs pets, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
