Today's "Throwback Thursday Collection" takes us to the southeast corner of West 2nd and North Monroe.
The building at 419 W. 2nd was constructed in 1948 as the Farmers' Friend Cable Hoist Co. Inc. The first photo shows that business in the winter of 1949.
That business didn't last long there. In 1954, it became the Arley Boyer Motors Nash dealership. That enterprise continued there until 1965 when it became Jack Anshutz Used Cars.
In 1968, it was J&H Wholesale Used Cars.
In 1969 and 1970, it was Guardian Transmission Repair.
From 1973 to 1982, it was part of the Hartman Mfg. group.
In 1982, it was Midwestern Mirror and Glass.
Jim's Water & Woods started at 7 E. Sherman but remodeled the 419 W. 2nd building in 1985 and moved there. The second photo shows that time frame of ownership.
Jim Peterson continued here until May of 2017, selling the business to Brandon Hoffman.
About 2022, Eck Services remodeled the building again and started their branch business there. Eck Services, owned by Travis Eck, now has six locations and 140 team members. The third photo shows the 419 W. 2nd location today, still Eck Services, with the property owned by Eck Management Company L.L.C. headquartered in Kingman.
