
TOPEKA — Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly Friday signed several bills Friday. One of those was Senate Bill 419.
The new law allows certain employees from the department of corrections to attend the Kansas law enforcement training center and included special agents of the department of corrections in the definition of law enforcement officer under the Kansas law enforcement training act.
The act shall take effect and be in force from and after its publication in the statute book.
Established by the Kansas Legislature in 1968, KLETC serves as the central law enforcement training facility and as headquarters for all law enforcement training in Kansas.
KLETC, a unit of the University of Kansas Lifelong & Professional Education is located at the former naval air station, which is situated south of the City of Hutchinson and west of the City of Yoder in Reno County, Kansas.
