
MANHATTAN, Kan. — Eagle Media’s Hutchinson radio stations and digital teams brought home multiple statewide honors as the Kansas Association of Broadcasters presented its annual Station Awards during the KAB Conference on Oct. 6.
Competing in the Medium Market Radio division, Eagle Media stations KHUT (102.9 FM), KHMY (93.1 FM) and KWBW (1450 AM/98.5 FM) were recognized for excellence in production, promotion, and on-air programming.
KHUT led the way with three first-place awards and a second-place finish. Daren Dunn and Ashley Weve earned Best Commercial Campaign for their Strataca series, while Weve, Dunn, Max Bringle, Karl Sneath and the Eagle Media team also claimed first in Multimedia Promotional or Commercial Announcements for another Strataca project. Dunn and Weve added another first-place honor in Station Promotion Announcement for their Allen Samuels “Spotlight A Hero” campaign.
A second-place plaque went to the team of Colleen Floyd, Miriam Yoder, Weve and Sneath for their Willie Johnson Ford multimedia spot.
KHMY’s Daren Dunn in the Morning earned honorable mention in Best Morning Show, while KWBW received two honorable mentions, one in Sports Play-by-Play for its broadcast of the NJCAA Football National Championship, called by Sean Boston and Dunn, and another for Station Excellence, recognizing the collective work of the KWBW staff in news, sports and public service.
